Setting up an Email Account on a Mail App

 Question?

How can I access my emails from my device application (eg Outlook or Mail)?

 Solution

You must ensure that you have an email account set up and not an email forwarder. The easiest way to determine this is to contact your host provider. A general rule is that if you access your emails from your personal account, you probably have an email forwarder enabled. You will have to reach out to your host provider to set up an email account.

Add an Email Account in Apple Mail

  1. Go to Account Settings or Settings - Mail.

  2. Click Accounts - Add Account

  3. Follow instructions on the screen:

    1. Mail Account: Other Mail Account and enter your Name, Email Address, and Password

    2. User Name: [email address]

    3. Password: [password]

    4. Account Type: IMAP

    5. Incoming Mail Server: mail.[your.domain]

    6. outgoing Mail Server: mail.[your.domain]

If you are using a template design strata website, you may need to use the parent mail server (mail.templatedesign.ca )

If you are still unable to access your email account, you may only have a mail forwarder. This is when mail is forwarded to a personal account. You can contact your host provider or reach out to @Tammy Craik to look into the issue.
